Between 1958 and 1962 Takayuki Mikami won 5 sparring and kata titles at the all Japan Karate Tournament. He won 1st in kumite 1958, 1st in kumite & kata 1959, 1st in kata 1961 and 1st in kata 1962. Mr. Mikami was inducted into the 1990 Black Belt Hall of Fame, "Instructor of the Year".
