In 1980, Karen Sheperd became the first woman to win the U.S. Open kata grand championship. Karen also won the 1979 International Karate Championship on Long Beach, the 1980-81 Diamond Nationals, 1980-81 West Coast Nationals and the 1980 Battle of Atlanta. Ranked America's number one female form champion in 1979 and 1980, Karen now directs her attention to the silver screen where she has starred in "Backlash" and "Mission of Justice". |
