Herb Perez is one of the most successful middleweight competitive fighters in karate. Perez was a member of the U.S. Taekwondo team from 1986 to 1992 and served as captain from 1988 to 1992. Herb won the Pan Am Gold from 1986 to 1989. Perez also won the 1986 All-American Open at Madison Square Garden. In 1987 Perez won the World Cup Gold Medal in Finland and a Gold Medal at the Pan Am Games in Indianapolis. In 1992 Perez was the only member of the U.S. Taekwondo team to win a Gold Medal in the Olympic Games in Barcelona.
