Elvis' love for the martial arts is well known. In 1967 his association with Ed Parker began in Hawaii. Parker began teaching Elvis seriously in 1972 where his influence over Elvis was strong indeed. Elvis was fascinated with karate, especially its dynamic self-defense applications. When at home in Memphis, Elvis could be found training in the School of Kang Rhee (pictured). So enthralled with karate, Elvis affixed the Kenpo emblem to his guitar, and used karate on stage for his live performances. |
